Focus and Scope

The peer-reviewed scholarly journal “Physical and Mathematical Education” covers current ideas, approaches, and trends in education by disseminating research-based pedagogical studies in the following areas:

  • theory and methodology of teaching Physics, Mathematics, and Computer Science;
  • theory and practice of Vocational and Professional Education;
  • the use of digital technologies in education, including digital learning tools, distance and blended learning, digital educational resources, and assessment.

Aim of the Journal

The aim of the scientific journal “Physical and Mathematical Education” is to develop and disseminate scholarly knowledge in the field of the theory and methodology of teaching physics, mathematics, and computer science, as well as in studies related to the development of science and mathematics education. The journal focuses on publishing the results of fundamental and applied research that reveal contemporary approaches to teaching physical and mathematical disciplines, improve the content of education, develop methodological systems of instruction, and integrate digital technologies into the educational process.

The journal provides an academic platform for presenting the results of empirical pedagogical research, analytical reviews, and methodological developments aimed at improving the quality of science and mathematics education for learners at different educational levels. Particular attention is given to studies that combine theoretical analysis with experimental validation of pedagogical solutions and employ modern methods of educational data analysis, digital learning tools, computer modelling, and visualization of educational content.

The journal also aims to foster international scholarly communication in the field of science and mathematics education, disseminate research findings that meet international standards of academic publishing, and support the integration of Ukrainian scholars into the global research community.

The main objectives of the journal include:

  • Publication of research findings. Disseminating original research articles, scholarly reviews, and results of pedagogical experiments addressing issues related to the teaching of physics, mathematics, and computer science, the development of science and mathematics education, teacher preparation, and the improvement of educational programmes.
  • Advancement of the methodology of teaching science and mathematics disciplines. Promoting research focused on improving the content and methods of instruction, developing new didactic models, pedagogical technologies, and methodological systems for teaching physics, mathematics, and computer science.
  • Support for innovative educational technologies. Presenting studies that explore the use of digital learning environments, computer modelling systems, mathematical visualization tools, software environments for learning and research, as well as approaches related to STEM education.
  • Development of empirical research in education. Disseminating studies that apply modern methods of educational data analysis, pedagogical experimentation, learning analytics, and investigations of the effectiveness of educational technologies and methodological solutions.
  • Promotion of interdisciplinary research. Supporting scholarly work that integrates pedagogy with computer science, psychology, cognitive sciences, educational technologies, and other fields related to the development of science and mathematics education.
  • Adherence to international standards of scholarly publishing. Ensuring independent double-blind peer review of submitted manuscripts, compliance with principles of academic integrity, and the use of modern tools for text verification and digital identifiers for authors and publications (ORCID, DOI).
  • Enhancing the international visibility of research. Facilitating the integration of Ukrainian research into the global academic environment by encouraging submissions from scholars of different countries, adhering to international standards of scholarly communication, and expanding cooperation with research centres in the field of science and mathematics education.
  • Support for early-career researchers. Providing opportunities for postgraduate students and young scholars to publish their research findings, engage in international academic communication, and develop a culture of responsible scholarly publishing.
